Even more good news: Microsoft ordered to pay $290M and stop selling Word 2007

Seems like 2009 won't go without few bells and whistles: Microsoft, accused by a patent infringement, lost a case, is ordered to pay $290M fine and stop selling Word 2007.

Oh great, so now there'll be yet another version or service pack or whatever to furnish yet another associated file type so that getting a text viewable between two people is even more complicated. Slow and painful death is so, well...slow and painful.

That's a lot of money, but to pay that much it might really be true. Microsoft have to keep it original.
