The process of creating a Drupal site from scratch has been implemented in so many various ways. The problem has so many solutions and this post isn't about comparing one to another; though I might be doing this very soon. In OpenCraft, we have been building and deploying Drupal using Apache Ant. This process saves us some good time doing CVS checkouts, applying patches, downloading third-party tools. The result is a build.xml file that looks like the attached one.
